Join us on Thursdays (exact date TBD) for a relaxing session of Yoga from 5:30 – 6:30pm. We will work on breathing, warm-up and stretches to develop strength and flexibility that will tide you through the rest of the week. The classes will be free, but we invite donations for the garden. All are welcome! Please bring a mat, water, and a small towel.

Woodlands Garden invites you to our annual event, M.A.Y. (music, art, & youth) Fair, a spring celebration of our community’s young talent. During M.A.Y. Fair an artist’s market is held is to provide an environment where kids in grades 2 to 12 can create and sell their own artwork and crafts. Musical performances will take place throughout the event with youth showing off their musical creations. The art booths will be set up on the Garden’s lawn and musical performances will be held in the Pavilion and outdoor performance stage in the Children’s Natural Play Area. This event is free for all and will take place rain or shine.
Enjoy a free poetry reading in the Pavilion at Woodlands with Louise Runyon and Thrower Starr between 4 and 5 pm. Supported in part by Poets & Writers.
Louise Runyon is a dancer/choreographer as well as poet. Artistic Director of Louise Runyon Performance Company, she has performed her work in Atlanta and the Southeast for the past 35 years, and has also published three books of poetry. Based in time and space and laced with movement, her poetry reflects a dancer’s sensibility and is grounded in observation of the natural world. Louise is a practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method of movement education. For more information, you can visit her website.
Thrower Starr has worked at Paideia School for 38 years as English teacher and as counselor, and is also a psychologist in private practice. He has written a large volume of poetry throughout his life, drawn to both nature and relationships, and to celebration and loss. This is a rare opportunity to hear Thrower perform his poetry live!
