Ben Ackerley
Garden Manager

Ben comes to the position from the Atlanta Botanical Garden, where he worked as a Horticulturist since the summer of 2016. After discovering his passion for plants in the spring of 2014, Ben began his undergraduate training in Horticulture at the University of Cincinnati. Concurrently, he began working in the field, first at Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum and then at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. He brings with him experience with public garden management, leadership skills that will allow him to engage with volunteers and equip them for activities that fulfill the mission of the Garden, and a passion for native plant garden design and propagation.

Before joining the Garden as a staff person, Kate learned firsthand about the workings of Woodlands while on the Board.  She worked as the Adult Education Manager at Trees Atlanta after graduating from the Longwood Graduate Program with the University of Delaware.  Kate is thrilled to be back in the public garden world and learning as much as she can about this hidden gem full of native beauties!  Come visit soon and get her out of the office often…
