May 16th – a great day to visit birds and parks

Saturday May 16th come to Woodlands early to meet Ralph Smith and other Atlanta Audubon guides for a birdwalk.  You may begin your walk here at 7:30. Then adjourn if you wish to the Decatur Cemetery to see even more birds.

Come back later in the day for one of many stops on the new Decatur greenspace scavenger hunt.  From 11 am – 2 pm, volunteers will greet you at Woodlands and seven other special places around Decatur.  “Garden Go Seek” is a kid-oriented, family-friendly scavenger hunt designed to get you out of the house and into Decatur’s beeeee-autiful green spaces. Buzz around eight Decatur community gardens, parks, and a woodland sanctuary on National Kids to Parks Day, May 16.  And it won’t sting your family budget because it’s free!

Pick up the newest edition of the “Garden Go Seek” guide at the Decatur Visitors’ Center or at any of the eight stops.  Hint:  Woodlands Garden is stop #1.
