DESCRIPTION:The North Georgia Camellia Society along with Woodlands Garden will be hosting a \n“Camellia Cuttings Workshop and Swap”  \non Saturday\, June 26\, 2021 \nfrom 10 am – 11am \nat Woodlands Garden in the Pavilion \nThe workshop will be led by Jim Pruckler\, NGCS Vice President. The program will focus on propagating Camellias from cuttings.  For many years\, Jim worked as a microbiologist at the CDC. He has devoted himself to growing and promoting Camellias across the Southeast.  Jim can be seen tending Dr. Morse’s original collection of Camellias as the resident Camellia guru at Woodlands and takes yearly trips to assist his friend\, Tom Johnson\, at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston\, SC.

The word\, “bathing\,” refers to the idea of absorbing your natural surroundings using all of the senses\, rather than anything to do with water. Forest bathing aims to bring healing through connection to nature and trees. Those changes include a new greenscaped entrance\, parking for school buses\, better access to the Garden’s trails\, and a refurbished Visitor Center – all accompanied by the serenity\, birds\, native plants and trees you’ve enjoyed at Woodlands in seasons past.  \nHelp spread the word: Follow the Garden on social media (Facebook and Instagram)\, then tag Woodlands with images of your visit\, and share your favorite plants or parts of your experience. \nAs a reminder\, Woodlands asks all visitors to:\nVisit during daylight hours\nStay on the paths\nLeave dogs at home\nPark in designated parking spaces (directions here)\nWhile there is no admission fee for Woodlands\, we rely on your donations for continued maintenance and fun programs–give today here! \nThank you so much for your continued support and patience while we completed this exciting construction project! Please consider walking\, biking\, and carpooling. Parking map of below locations available here and more detail provided below.\nCost: Free\, we just ask that you PLEASE park off-site\nCostume: Yes\, please!\n\n  \nWoodlands is thrilled to partner with Skyland Trail for the eighth annual ‘Fairies in the Garden’ celebration. Skyland Trail artists will create intricate tiny houses in the woods\, just for you to find. They could be tucked away below an old tree\, under a bridge or right along the trails. \nDiscover tiny fairy dwellings built from bark\, twigs\, branches\, seed heads\, leaves and other natural materials\, tucked in sheltered nooks along the garden’s paths. Colonies will include root fairies\, stump fairies\, fortress fairies\, moss fairies … and of course trolls under the bridge. \nYou can follow the fairy map (check out Facebook page for updates) or go exploring around the garden to seek out these enchanting fairy houses. We will also give you a whole bunch of clues to help you find them all! This year’s Fairy Celebration will include a host of fun activities and the ever-popular ‘Grand Summoning of the Fairies’ followed by the trail parade. \nVolunteers needed for this exciting event!
