May 11 2:00-4:00 p.m.\n@ Woodlands Garden\, 932 Scott Blvd\, Decatur 30030 Admission: Free \nFeaturing: Stephen Wing\, Poetry\nLuz Wright\, Nature Photography \nElise Witt & An Impromptu Glorious ChorusTM Jessica Lily\, Woodland Watercolors \nThe afternoon begins in the Visitor Center where Stephen Wing will offer signed copies of his book Wild Atlanta\, which features his epic poem about Woodlands Garden\, “After Speaking Too Loudly in a Quiet Place.” The poem will also be available in chapbook form\, along with Wing’s newly released collection\, Washed in the Hurricane. The Visitor Center is currently hosting a show of water color paintings by Jessica Lily\, who will be painting live during the book signing. \nVisitors will then be invited to take a very short walk through the woods to the Woodlands Pavilion\, where they will be treated to live poetry by Wing\, a talk by Luz Wright about the photographs in Wild Atlanta\, and a musical performance by Elise Witt & An Impromptu Glorious ChorusTM. After the performance\, participants will once again be welcomed in the Visitor Center to view the paintings\, purchase books\, mingle and socialize. \nWild Atlanta: Greenspaces & Nature Preserves of ‘The City in the Forest’ \nAtlanta poet Stephen Wing and photographer Luz Wright celebrate the city’s many hidden pockets of wild nature in this lush coffee-table book\, the product of Wing’s seasonal “Earth Poetry” workshops throughout the metro area for over a decade. “Finally\, Atlanta’s urban forests receive the tribute they deserve with this blend of inspiring poetry and radiant photographs\,” says high school science teacher Mark Yates of Decatur. \nwww.StephenWing.com\, www.WildAtlanta.net \nElise Witt & An Impromptu Glorious ChorusTM \nWhen the pandemic shut down singing in enclosed spaces\, Atlanta singer Elise Witt started holding her singing workshops in the Pavilion at Woodlands Garden in Decatur. This event will happen during Go Public Gardens week\, let’s celebrate public gardens together! The event will be $15. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats.Who: Annie\, Livvy Feeney\, participants who pre-registerWhen: Wednesday\, May 15\, 2024 and May 22\, 2024Where: The lawn – rain location: the pavillion\n\nMore about Livvy: Livvy Feeney (they/them) completed Tough Love Yoga’s 200 hour teacher training in the spring of 2023\, and has been teaching regularly since then. They currently teach at the community care space CareWave and substitute classes at M3. They are also a contemporary dancer\, so they celebrate the physicality and artistry of the practice. Livvy strives to create an inclusive class which honors the varied needs of each student\, through alignment based cueing and offering options throughout. They work to offer a culture of consent\, empowerment\, and reverence for the roots of yoga.
