SUMMARY:Forest Bathing Walk
DESCRIPTION:Forest bathing\, or shinrin-yoku\, is a Japanese form of nature therapy that is designed to connect you with nature. The word\, “bathing\,” refers to the idea of absorbing your natural surroundings using all of the senses\, rather than anything to do with water. Forest bathing aims to bring healing through connection to nature and trees. The practice is said to enhance well-being\, reduce stress and restore calm. \nA walk is a two to three hour experience during which you will be invited to connect with nature using your senses. \nThings you need to know: \n\nThese particular Forest Therapy walks are designed for adults\, so 14 is the minimum age.  There will be future walks available that will give our younger people the opportunity to enjoy the Forest in this way.\nDress appropriately for the weather\, and be sure to wear comfortable shoes.\nWalks are held rain or shine\, and cancelled if dangerous weather occurs.  The safety of our participants is of utmost importance!\nBring plenty of water!  It is better to over-estimate how much you will need instead of running out.\nYou are welcome to bring a snack\, in fact it is encouraged.

DESCRIPTION:Like a tree\, we can root into the earth\, and suspend from the sky. Qigong is a fluid movement\npractice to enhance well being by opening up the breath and activating the brain. The\nmovement is slow\, subtle\, and energizing. We will remain upright as we practice balance\,\nbreath\, and alignment. Learn how the seasons and the elements connect to our bodies\, as we\ndevelop the capacity to be more engaged with the present moment and the natural world in\nthe gardens around us. \nBio:\nHeidi has had a fascination with Qigong since the late 90’s\, when her interest in the healing arts\nbegan. She has kept a daily qigong practice for well-being and a healthy lifestyle. She has\nstudied and trained with high level instructors and medical professionals in qigong\, tai chi\,\nbreathwork\, somatics\, internal martial arts\, occupational therapy\, sensory integration as well as\nmany other healing modalities. Her other favorite fitness activities include swimming\, yoga and\ndance.

SUMMARY:Woodland Herbal Traditions Workshop
DESCRIPTION:WOODLAND HERBAL TRADITIONS WORKSHOP Learn how to forage and steward the native plants of the southeastern woodlands. In this tour\, we will embark on a walk through the scenic Woodlands Garden. Along the way\, we will learn how to identify over fifteen native plants and discuss their many edible\, medicinal\, and physical uses throughout history. This tour focuses on the written and oral teachings of local indigenous populations and hopes to empower you to lead a more empowered\, self-sufficient\, sustainable life\, encourage earth connection and stewardship\, and to celebrate the gifts and wisdom of indigenous cultures. Each 2-hour tour is filled to its limit on a first come-first-serve basis. Classes are 16 people maximum. Tickets are $30/ person. 15% of proceeds go to Woodland Gardens non-profit. Parking is located on site. Most paths are unpaved but are level and wide to accommodate wheelchair access. Accessible parking and restrooms are located on site. Dates: March 18th\, May 14th\, June 17th\, July 2nd\, Aug 12th\, Sept 23rd\, & Oct 7th from 2pm-4pm

SUMMARY:Forest Bathing Walk with Renewal By Nature
DESCRIPTION:Forest bathing\, or shinrin-yoku\, is a Japanese form of nature therapy that is designed to connect you with nature. The word\, “bathing\,” refers to the idea of absorbing your natural surroundings using all of the senses\, rather than anything to do with water. Forest bathing aims to bring healing through connection to nature and trees. The practice is said to enhance well-being\, reduce stress and restore calm. Participants of a Shinrin-Yoku walk are guided through a series of invitations that encourage immersion of the Forest through their senses\, thus fully experiencing their natural surroundings and becoming beneficiaries of the “medicine of the forest”.
